Academic Regalia

Athabasca University will supply a graduation gown and hood for your use during the Convocation ceremony. Once you have responded online, a gown will be ordered and reserved for you in the Student Gowning Room between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. on the date of your ceremony. Hoods are available for sale at $100 (GST included) following the ceremony. Gowns are not for sale and must be returned at the completion of the ceremony.

Welcome

On Convocation day, please check in at the lobby of the Athabasca Regional Multiplex before 10 a.m. Convocation volunteers will be there to answer any questions you may have, to provide you with a name tag, to assist you with your belongings and to provide any other help you may need.

Refreshments

During each day of Convocation, Athabasca University will serve a continental breakfast and refreshments to all students and their guests from 9 to 11 a.m. The Athabasca University Students Union and Athabasca University Graduate Students Association buffet luncheon, open to all Convocation participants and guests, will follow each day’s ceremony.         

Dress

Please dress comfortably for the ceremony and the weather. Any combination of suit, blazer, dress pants, turtleneck or shirt and tie for men and suit, dress, pants, skirt or blouse for women is acceptable.          

Tours and Displays

During your visit, we encourage you to explore the university and view the artwork and displays. Self-guided tour brochures will be available at the AU information desk.           

Webcast

Family and friends who are unable to attend Convocation can watch the proceedings via our live webcast of the ceremony. The webcast will start at 11:45 a.m. (MST) each day. Visit the Convocation website to view the ceremony.
